Being the owner of a Sea-Doo is a unique experience alt

Being the owner of a Sea-Doo is a unique experience that offers unlimited fun and adventure. Cutting across Canadian waterways on a PWC comes with a lot of freedom, but also responsibility. As the owner of a Sea-Doo, it is up to you to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you. Whether you are speeding through the Muskoka lakes in Ontario, or cruising through British Columbia, the following tips will help you ride safer, smarter, and in compliance with Canadian law. 1. Wear a Properly Fitted and Approved PFD (Personal Flotation Device) One of the most important safety measures a Sea-Doo rider can take is to wear a PFD. Ensure that you have chosen a PFD that fits you well, it should not be too loose or too restrictive. A well chosen PFD will keep you safe without inhibiting your range of motion. Check out our fitment chart here and choose from our collection of high quality Sea-Doo PFDs to keep yourself safe on the water. See Collection 2. Follow Speed Limits and Local Waterway Laws Each waterway in Canada has its own speed limits, no-wake zones, restricted areas, and markers. Familiarizing yourself with the rules for your region is paramount to ensuring responsible riding. Going too fast close to shore can result in fines following damage to wildlife habitats and shorelines. There are many resources available online to help learn more about your local waterway. Navigational equipment can serve as a great tool to understand your waterway better, check out our collection of fish finders and GPS systems. See Collection 3. Always Ride Sober Drinking and operating a PWC is illegal and dangerous. Just like driving a car, impaired Sea-Doo riders pose a serious safety risk. Riding impaired not only puts the rider at risk but all those around them on the waters. 4. Always Ride Prepared Always make sure you have all the appropriate safety gear on board, no matter how short the trip is. The essentials include your safety kit, fire extinguisher, and emergency paddle. With all these items on board, you can ride confidently knowing that you can get out of any situation the water throws at you. 5. Keep Your Sea-Doo Clean Between Waterways Invasive species are a real threat to Canada’s freshwater ecosystems. As a member of the Sea-Doo family it is your responsibility to help curb this threat. Whenever you move your Sea-Doo to another waterway you must make sure that it is clean so that you don’t accidentally transport unwanted hitchhikers. We offer many cleaning products to ensure that your hull is clean. See Collection Final Thoughts Riding a Sea-Doo is about freedom and fun, but safety always comes first.
